Meet the doctors behind Polished Pediatric Dentistry

When we set out to create Polished Pediatric Dentistry, our vision was simple: build a place where children feel comfortable, parents feel confident, and every visit starts on a positive note. My husband, Dr. Thomas Sanchez, and I are both board-certified pediatric dentists who share a passion for helping children have better dental experiences from the very beginning.

My own journey into dentistry started when I was young. I grew up afraid of the dentist, and for a while, dental visits felt stressful and overwhelming. But one positive experience changed everything. I remember feeling heard, cared for, and comfortable, and that moment shaped my path. I knew I wanted to create those same experiences for children and families one day.

I was born in California and moved to Louisiana at age 11, and both places helped shape who I am today. California influenced my creativity and open-mindedness, while Louisiana taught me the value of warmth and hospitality. I carried those qualities with me as I earned my molecular biology degree from Louisiana State University Shreveport, attended Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, and completed my pediatric dentistry residency at UT Health Houston.

Dr. Tom’s path to pediatric dentistry is just as meaningful. He grew up in El Paso, Texas, and began his career as a registered nurse before pursuing dentistry. After earning his BS in Nursing from UT El Paso, he attended dental school at UT Health Science Center San Antonio and later served on active duty in the military as a general dentist for five years. After years in general dentistry, he discovered how much he enjoyed working with children and completed his pediatric dentistry residency at UT Health Houston, where we met and began building our vision together.

At Polished Pediatric Dentistry, we’re building more than just a dental office. We’re creating a dental home designed with families in mind. From the way we welcome you to the way we communicate with your child, everything is centered around comfort, connection, and thoughtful care.

We want every visit to feel calm and easy, whether it’s your child’s first appointment or a routine checkup. Our office is being designed with little ones in mind, with features like TVs in treatment rooms, a kids play area, prizes, and even ice cream or popsicles for children who receive sedation. These small touches help create a space that feels welcoming without being overwhelming.

Our goal is to create an environment that feels cheerful, calm, and inviting for children while helping parents feel confident in their child’s care from the moment they walk through the door.

Focused on quality pediatric care for growing smiles

At Polished Pediatric Dentistry, we focus on providing quality pediatric dental care while recommending only what’s truly needed. We believe that thoughtful, conservative care helps build trust and supports long-term oral health.

Our services include preventive care such as fluoride treatments, dental sealants, and oral cancer screenings, along with restorative treatments like fillings, crowns, stainless steel crowns, pulpotomies, and space maintainers. We also offer pediatric sedation options including laughing gas, oral conscious sedation, and, when appropriate, IV or general anesthesia. Same-day appointments for dental emergencies are often available to help families when they need care most.

We also place a strong emphasis on behavior guidance and caring for children with special needs or medical complexities. Both Dr. Tom and I enjoy the art of pediatric dentistry, especially finding ways to help children understand what’s happening in a calm, approachable way. When kids feel comfortable, everything else becomes easier.
